1st year Milestones!

My baby girl is slowly easing into toddler-hood; she is learning so many new things everyday, I can hardly keep up! I bought a baby book after she was born, intending to take note of her milestones there, but I have failed miserably: I think I only wrote there once, on her 5th month, and I could barely remember all the cute little things she did that deserved to be noted down. What I DID do is to make an Instagram Milestone update, showing my daughter's progress in weight, length, posture, and wardrobe (hehe), jotting down the memorable activities and actions she was able to achieve in the past month.

Compilation of my baby's monthly updates, 1st to 12th month

I have been contemplating whether I should continue past her 1st year, and I've decided to maybe just do a quarterly update instead, since doing these things take a lot of time and Photoshop effort. I wish I was like some of the other moms out there who could scrapbook every single memory of their baby's achievements...but, sorry to say, I wasn't able to hone my scrapbooking capability, and I've totally neglected my blogging. :( So many things to do! You know how it is with hashtag-motherhood. :))

I'm trying to catch up on my backlog here, but the days after her 1st birthday leading up to her 13th month were chock-full of milestones that I'm afraid they won't fit into an itty-bitty IG post. So for posterity's sake, I am jotting down some of her most memorable achievements, and hopefully, I can narrow these down once her 15th month rolls around:

  • Knows how to wave goodbye (similar to her "close-open" hand action haha)
  • Can point to her head, ears, nose and eyes (although there are times when she points to her ears, no matter what body part you ask for haha)
  • Shows her tongue when you ask "where's your tongue?"
  • Can point to any object she wants you to get for her (i.e. she points to the ceiling when she is asking for her Dora balloon).
  • Very generous: tried to give Dora food; always shares her toys.
  • Knows how to put stacking cups one on top of the other.
  • Knows how to "pack away" her toys.
  • Hugs Bunny, Torty and Horty all the time. Sometimes Chimpy, too.
  • Likes to sleep on her side, with her leg around a pillow, or mama. Likes hugging Bunny while sleeping.
  • Knows how to shake her head "no" / nod her head "yes."
  • Says "mamam" when she's hungry.
  • Has already started drinking soy milk.
  • Can stand up on her own (from squatting position).
  • Made her first 2 steps! But still a bit hesitant to walk on her own.
  • Bobs her head to the music, or slaps her thighs to the beat.
  • Knows how to clasp her hands to "pray."
  • Gets jealous when papa hugs mama. Hahaha.
  • Likes to climb down/up the bed or sofa.
  • Favorite snack: inihaw na kamote!
Can't decide which one is my favorite, because they are all so cute and awesome. <3 It's amazing how much baby's learn in a matter of days / weeks / months! I really cannot imagine trying to teach a little baby all the things I've learned growing up! So much pressure! Is there a curriculum out there somewhere, like which topic / subject to teach first? Should I teach her body parts first? Types of animals? Animal sounds? Colors? Numbers? The alphabet? Fruits? English, Bisaya, Filipino??? So many things, so little time!

Makes me appreciate the effort of my parents to raise 4 level-headed kids! Thanks to my mama and papa for teaching me all that I know. :D

Sigh.

The next task at hand is to compile her 1ST YEAR PHOTO ALBUM. Oh Lord. Hope I will be able to finish this before my Photobook voucher expires! And I hope that I will be able to choose all the important pictures, and show the important milestones through them. Adelle will be depending on me to help her look back into her baby-hood. Sometimes I wish I could just pass on my memories to her in a flash drive, so she can see herself through my eyes...and she will see how loved she is. As in, super ka-duper to the max LOVED. :)
